The data on your disc ( video, interactive, documents, PDFs etc… ) are placed on a computer drive and burned individually onto each disc, much like the burner on your PC or Laptop. Duplicators automate the process and do multiple discs at one time.

The data on your disc ( video, interactive, documents, PDFs etc… ) are “Mastered” onto a glass replication mold, which is then used to physically imprint your data to the disc as it is molded. This is a higher speed copying process after creating the glass master disc.

SPEED
Duplication happens on a set of duplicators in-house and ready to accept and burn media. Thermal printing of the art on your disc provides professional high quality discs from 1 to 1000 pieces in 2-4 days. Even higher quantities can be duplicated in that timeframe when a tight deadline is the deciding factor.

COST
At higher volumes, replication is a good option for lower per piece cost. Offset printing provides high-quality, economical reproduction on the face of the disc. After a glass master is made, and offset plates are made for the disc face, high volume copying is very economical.

Duplication is a flexible process for smaller volumes since each disc is “burned” as a one-off from the data on the system’s hard drive.

Because the actual burning process is on a multi-disc burner, it is more expensive than replication per disc. HOWEVER, there is NO minimum quantity and no set-up cost.

Replication typically takes 10-14 working days from placement of the order.

Replication requires time to create the glass master, make printing plates and organize the job on the mass replication pressing system.

Pricing includes the cost of glass mastering and printing plates for jobs over 1000 pieces. These costs are typically several hundred dollars of the job, so duplication becomes more cost-competitive in lower quantities.

The reproduction and play quality of replicated and duplicated discs is essentially the same, and the visual difference between thermal imprinting and offset printing is negligible on most artwork.
